On March 18, 2008, Yudong Street Residential Committee in Shijiazhuang City, together with Yuhua District Program Office organized an art performance event on the square of Huarun Wangjia Supermarket, under the theme "Mobilizing the General Public to Prevent AIDS". Activities including songs, traditional opera, allegretto and dramas were conducted. There were about 500 audience, including more than 200 migrant workers. Over 500 copies of IEC materials were distributed.
The event not only raised the awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention among the audience, but also allowed the IEC materials to be further distributed to the family members and peers of the audience, which expanded the coverage of the IEC and reinforced its effectiveness. Expected outcome was achieved in mobilizing the general public to take part in the prevention programs regarding HIV/AIDS.
